Dear Fort Supply Family:

Today, the State Board of Education approved an order that implements a Distance Learning Plan to complete the 2019-2020 school year for Oklahoma students without reopening school buildings. The order also stated that extracurricular activities and special events were to be cancelled. The approval comes as numbers grow for positive COVID-19 cases in the state.

We are sharing this information with you, so that you can begin to prepare accordingly for your family. We know that this is in the best interest of everyone’s health, which is our greatest priority as a district. Making these difficult decisions, we believe, is simply the right thing to do for our students, our staff and our community.

Fort Supply Schools is developing a plan to ensure that your child will continue to have opportunities to learn and to grow academically, especially with parental support. Because we are unable to safely gather together, these lessons will come to you through internet or through packets for the week. Please check out our website, fortsupply.k12.ok.us, or Facebook for more information on scheduling. Each teacher will be in contact with their students.

For students, it likely will be sad and disappointing to learn that school as they know it will not resume this year. Please give them a safe place to express their feelings and to vent about the changes in their life. For our seniors and their parents, we know it is an especially difficult time. We will do everything possible to ensure their efforts are recognized and celebrated in a special and unique way. Graduation will happen!!

We will be serving free breakfast and lunches for students under the age of 18. Please come by and pick up a breakfast and a lunch in front of the gym from 8:00AM-8:30AM. Planning is essential, so please go to Facebook and let us know that your children need a meal for the next day.

This community sticks together in challenging times, and we know this experience will be no different. You’re the best!

Sincerely,

Melva Little
Superintendent
